Do not assume an expired NICOP will always be accepted for travel. NADRA describes visa-free entry as a benefit of a valid NICOP, while older official notices discussed temporary arrangements for expired cards. Airline and border checks can differ, so verify the current position before booking or travelling.
Why older travel advice needs care
A Pakistan High Commission and FIA notice published in 2022 discussed travel with expired NICOP or POC documents and renewal evidence. Because that notice is dated, it should not be treated as a permanent guarantee. Rules, airline boarding checks and landing-permit procedures may change.
Checks to make before travel
Contact the airline operating every leg of the journey and confirm the current entry position with the Pakistan High Commission or relevant immigration authority. Keep your valid passport, expired card and any official renewal receipt available, but do not rely on a third-party assurance at the airport.
Renew early where possible
Starting renewal before travel gives time to resolve identity, passport or family-record differences. Nadra Card Centre can help prepare a renewal, but cannot guarantee boarding, entry, approval, processing or delivery.
