NICOP applications are not all the same. The right category depends on whether a record already exists, whether its information is still correct and whether the physical card is available.

New and renewal applications

A new application establishes a first eligible NICOP record. Renewal is generally for an existing card that is expiring or expired when relevant underlying details remain correct.

Modification and reprint

Modification is used when record or printable information needs updating. Reprint or duplicate may apply when an existing card is lost, stolen or damaged, subject to the official category rules.

Cancellation and official decisions

Cancellation can have important identity and nationality consequences and should be approached carefully. NADRA decides category eligibility, evidence, fees and outcomes; obtain legal advice if the wider consequences are unclear.
